Born and raised in a traditional joint family in one of India’s cultural hubs, Kolkata, West Bengal, Vasundhara Gupta (you can call her Vasu) is a music producer, vocalist, and sound designer, currently based out of Los Angeles, California.
She became deeply immersed in music early in life and began training in North-Indian classical vocals from the age of five. Thanks to her family’s large variety of musical tastes, she grew up around a rich spread of Indian Classical, French music, ‘Rock n Roll’, jazz, orchestral music, Western classical, and popular music from all corners of the world.
In 2017, Vasu’s passion led her to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she graduated with a degree in Professional Music along with a minor in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation from Berklee’s state-of-the-art campus in Valencia, Spain. During her time in Boston, she produced for and collaborated with a number of artists, published a self-produced album, and recorded and performed with various award-winning, international artists such as the Oscar-winning A.R. Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal, and Shankar Mahadevan to name a few. Vasu moved to Los Angeles to further her career in music production and post-production where she has worked with Slick Sounds, an audio post production facility for TV, film, and advertising.
Apart from her work at the studio, Vasu freelances as a producer and post-production engineer, records vocals for select upcoming projects, and collaborates with creative artists from around the world.
When she isn’t at the studio designing sounds for a film, you’ll find Vasu immersed in electronic textures and soundscapes and experimenting with synthesizers and sound waves.
