Evee Maycock

My name is Evee Maycock and I am a young freelance sound engineer before starting at a univeristy to study sound in september 2019. I am currently looking for work in order to gain wider industry experience to add to my repertoire. Throughout my time at college, I have been fortunate enough to gain large amounts of experience through both my courses in A-Level Music Technology and BTEC Music, and my role as student technician at my college. I have been able to experience live sound scenarios including working in our Theatre and more intimate events such as pub gigs. As Student Technician, I was required to work with clients and directors for external companies, meeting their intentions for their shows and running the sound professionally. Here I was faced with technical and client issues that had to be dealt with efficiently to ensure each event could run as smoothly as possible. Through this role, I have also had the chance to experiment and work on lighting in order to build my technical knowledge. I confidently and successfully ran a show form a lighting perspective and would like to build my knowledge on this in the future. During my BTEC course I have had the opportunity to perform and lead a technical team at local music venue, The Cube, in Poulton. For this to happen I worked within my team as Technical Support Manager to arrange stage plans, equipment, and logistics for the event to be successful. On the night, I led setting up the backline equipment and front of house system, before operating the sound. As well as doing this on my course, I have also had further experience at The Cube through band nights externally where I have again lead the full arrangements and set up of the event. Through this I have been able to work with people in a team, communicating and putting into action requests from a musicians and technicians point of view. As part of other voluntary projects at college I had the opportunity to work in different live sound scenarios, such as shadowing producing an orchestrated pit band for our college musicals. This involved working with the lead radio mics, against the mix of the pit band to create a clear and balanced sound. This was for our college productions of Miss Saigon, and Chicago. In July 2018 I undertook work experience at Formby Festival with Infinity Technical, where I worked as part of the sound team on both monitors and front of house. This gave me further knowledge and understanding of a larger scale music event giving me insight into a larger working technical team. In addition to my sound and lighting experience, I have also undertaken work in stage management in theatre productions and the Blackpool Music Run Warm Up Event, where I have been credited in my professionalism. I am confident in my knowledge and understanding of sound and I am always eager to build in my skills as a technician.
