Vanessa Silberman is an international touring singer, guitarist and songwriter from Brooklyn, NY (via Los Angeles, CA). She is also a record producer, engineer, an independent A&R and runs an artist development Label called A Diamond Heart Production.
Vanessa's live shows and music has been compared to the raw bare bones rock 'n roll of Nirvana along with the appeal of Liz Phair and Chrissie Hynde, authenticity of classic artists such as Patti Smith and Neil Young mixed with the pop sensibilities of commercial radio artists such as Green Day and Metric.
Widely known for having a very strong DIY ethic and wearing many different hats in the music business —Vanessa has worked for heavy hitter's in the music business such as Producer / Songwriter Dr.Luke as well as for many companies and places ranging from the Foo Fighter's Studio 606 to Epitaph Records.
Vanessa discovered most of her first records through Columbia House (10 cds for a penny) and grew up constantly on the move, between Kauai HI with her mom, and the CA Bay Area with her father. At one point the youngster lived in ten different places in a month during grade school. It’s no wonder she adapted so naturally to the touring life, as she lived on the road gigging the entire U.S. for over three years (2015-2018).
Audiofemme.com named the touring singer and guitarist one of the hardest working bands of 2019, 2018 as well as 2017 (as she managed to play over 200 shows that year alone). Vanessa has done over 19 tours between 2015-2020 and played over 800 shows across the U.S. as well as in the UK & Europe supporting 2 EP’s (Brighter in Bloom & self-titled) and various singles released through her label, a 7” through Resurrection Records / ADHP as well as a cassette released by Weiner (Burger Records).
‘Who We Are’ is Silberman’s first new single of 2020 (out 3/6/20 via A Diamond Heart Production / Success Records through Symphonic Distribution) beginning the launch of releasing one song each month, leading up to an album release by the end of the year. Her new songs draw inspiration from anthemic rock, grunge, raw punk and explore mixed elements of pop and hip-hop production. Staying true to her DIY roots, ’Who We Are’ (along with the other new material) is self-produced, engineered, recorded, programmed, performed, mixed and mastered by Vanessa herself. Some of the new singles will also include various featured artists.
Silberman has toured solo as well as featured other various musicians backing her. She has also toured under the ‘Vanessa Silberman Band’ which features Reed Mullin, drummer of Corrosion of Conformity and producer / musician Mikel Ross. Her current line up includes actor/musician Ryan Carnes on drums.
Vanessa released her 2nd EP ‘Brighter in Bloom’ in the fall of 2019 on her label A Diamond Heart Production (Symphonic Distribution) - The 4 song EP was self-produced and recorded by her with additional production and engineering by Mikel Ross at Lucky Recording Company and A Diamond Heart Production. The EP was mixed by John Lousteau (Foo Fighters, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Greg Graffin, The Used) and Oliver Roman at the Foo Fighters Studio Studio 606 and mastered by Jett Galindo (Illuminati Hotties, the Interrupters) at The Bakery.
Vanessa did a 3 part touring and recording artist series with Today at Apple where she spoke and performed at their San Francisco Union Square store through the winter of 2018-2019. She also did numerous tours, festivals and performed at NAMM 2019 as well as at various showcases during SXSW 2019 (Balanced Breakfast, The Brunch, Mag Mile).
In 2018 Vanessa toured the U.S multiple times and played a few select dates in the UK & Europe. Kevin Lyman & the Ernie ball / Full Sail Stage, Shiragirl and the Transform Stage selected her to play on 3 different dates of the final Vans Warped Tour. She also released a single called “Outswimming Sharks” through her label that was recorded by Ken Susi of the band Unearth which was premiered by Newnoisemagazine.com.
Vanessa has also supported Alkaline Trio, R.Ring (featuring Kelley Deal of The Breeders), Selector Dub Narotic (Calvin Johnson founder of K Records), and played SXSW, NAMM, Lobster Fest (San Pedro, CA), Star City Music Festival (San Francisco, CA) and Grrrls Kick Ass Fest (Madison, WI) to name a few.
