Bridget Barkan is an Actress of music, a chameleon artist who shape-shifts through genre and style. Some have said she is like the secret child of Cindy Sherman and John Waters, raised by the ghost of Janis Joplin. A born and raised New Yorker, daughter of a Brill Building songwriter who spent her childhood improvising songs at her fathers piano. Music is her language. Barkan has toured the world with pop/glam band the Scissor Sisters, opening for Lady Gaga, sung with Lily Allen, Drag Artist Joey Arias and more. She has recorded with legendary house DJ and producer Todd Terry. Bridget has been a teaching artist with Carnegie Hall, creating songwriting workshops for incarcerated youth and teen mothers for 6 years, as well as leading workshops and private vocal and songwriting coaching. She has written and produced 4 one woman musicals that were part of a residency at Joe's Pub of the Public Theatre and traveled around the U.S. For these shows, she created music and video content to accompany the live performances. She has had a professional career as an actress, appearing in Law & Order, The Knick, FBI, Blue Bloods, Blindspot, HBO's "Everyday People," and as the voice of Misty Holloway on The Get Down.
