Iris Zacarias

Iris Zacarias (she/they) is a sound designer and engineer, lighting designer, and environmentalist. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design and Production at California State University, Fullerton. Her designs have been featured at South Coast Repertory, The Los Angeles Theatre Center, The Chance Theatre, ACT Theatre, among others. Their most recent designs were featured at Boundless Theatre Company’s Boundless Exposed in New York City. Iris has extensive experience as a sound engineer for theatre and circus companies, mixing for productions on and off the road with Teatro Zinzanni, Circus Smirkus, and Seattle Children’s Theatre. Their sound editing and content creation credits include The Sol Project's SolTalk and their personal project Sonaura Sound. Iris is a cohort member of the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures 2020 Advocacy Leadership Institute. She is also a recipient of KCACTF Region VIII Meritorious Achievement, given for excellence in Sound Mixing. Along with their theatre endeavors, Iris has been an active member of Latino Outdoors, an environmental non-profit that focuses on connecting and engaging the Latinx community in the outdoors through embracing roots to la naturaleza. Throughout the past four years, she has held the positions of Outings Leader, Washington State Program Coordinator, and currently has the role of Ambassador. She is a scholarship recipient of GreenLatinos Capitol Hill Fly-in as part of the 2019 GreenLatinos L.E.A.D. Week in Washington, D.C. On her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, cooking & eating good food, photography, going to concerts, hanging out with Lobito & Osito (her pup housemates), reading, and watching television shows and movies.
